But images from this year show new bunting that appears to showcase the flags of all EU member states, the EU flag itself, as well as Canada and the US - but no British flag. Due to its proximity to the French coastline, Carentan was a vital town for the Allies to capture during the D-Day operation, which saw tens of thousands of soldiers land on French shores in the biggest military operation of its kind. A seven-year-old boy who died after being infected with HIV in the contaminated blood scandal was used in 'secret trials' because he was 'cheaper than chimpanzees' to test on, his parents have claimed. Ahead of the release of a report into the scandal on Monday, Jan and Colin Smith told of their heartbreak after their son, also named Colin died in January 1990 after being infected with AIDS and Hepatitis C with contaminated blood at the age of two. Sir Brian Langstaff will release his report into the scandal on Monday following four years gather evidence in the Infected Blood Inquiry between 2019 and 2023.

Shocked shoppers captured the scene at the Local supermarket on Mile End Road in Tower Hamlets at the weekend as angry staff yell at the man to 'stay the f*** down' - while he yells 'Allahu akbar' (God is the greatest). One member of staff says to 'take him inside' and the man, who appears to be agitated and in distress, is dragged by the collar of his jacket into the storeroom at the back of the shop. Staff are then seen kicking the man behind the door, labelled 'authorised personnel only' - as he appears to yell out 'I'm sorry'.

After a two week trial in which she was accused of flaunting her baby bonnet for sympathy, the verdict is in: Rebecca Joynes, 30, did have sex with two of her male pupils and now she joins the grim list of British paedophile teachers. Joynes wrecked her career and the innocence of the two children by having a one-night stand with a 15-year-old pupil before she got pregnant by a second boy. An Israeli father was hospitalised with a broken jaw when he was attacked at a train station in Belgium. Shocking video shows his assailant rushing down an escalator at the station in Bruges before shoving 64-year-old Amnon Ohana, who had reportedly peeled an 'anti-Israel' sticker off a wall upstairs. The man pushes Ohana to the ground before standing over him, gesturing a lunge before grabbing his foot and tussling with him as onlookers can only warn him 'I have you on video' and 'f**k off'.

A Metropolitan Police officer who 'manhandled' and wrongly arrested a woman for bus fare evasion in front of her sobbing son has been found guilty of assault. PC Perry Lathwood, 50, of Norman's Bay, East Sussex, grabbed Jocelyn Agyemang by the arm, causing bruising injuries during the arrest on July 21 last year in Whitehorse Road, Croydon, south London . In the video footage Ms Agyemang can be heard repeatedly screaming: 'Can you get off me, please? Can you get off my arm.' As her son begin to cry hysterically and she is quickly surrounded by five police officers, before Lathwood slaps handcuffs on her for 'resisting'.

The blaze struck an apartment block in Serra Gaúcha, southern Brazil on Tuesday 14 May. A little boy and his 38-year-old mother were seriously injured but no one is believed to have died. Firefighters came to the rescue of the little boy who was cowering on the fourth floor balcony.The boy's 38-year-old mother was also rescued with burns on more than 60 per cent of her body. Eight other people were also on the fourth floor of the building, but were unharmed according to firefighters. A team of rescuers worked against the clock to bring the boy to safety, scaling the wall and balancing dangerously on window ledges as they tried to coax the terrified child from his hiding place.

A parody music video of President Joe Biden created by comedian and host of FOX News Saturday Night Jimmy Failla is now going viral online as more fans are sharing it.  The video is a parody of rock artist Tom Petty's familiar tune 'Free Fallin' and features clips of Biden wandering around, falling down on stage and on the stairs of Air Force One, as the lyrics point out that Biden 'Keeps fallin.'  Biden frequently trips and stumbles in public and his gait has gotten stiffer as he gets older, prompting his staff to try and reduce the chances of taking embarrassing falls.
